Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
If you are ready to be fit, train hard and have fun, then this is your class!
You will learn all of the essential techniques for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu: takedowns, defense, control, escapes, attacks, and guard passing, as well as the point system used in tournaments.
This class includes: Warm Up/Workout, BJJ Drills, & Sparring. Each week a new technique will be focused on, broken-down and trained all week to ensure our students develop the best in technical skills.
For those of you who like to compete, Humboldt Jiu Jitsu is home to the Carlson Gracie BJJ Arcata Team, and there will be many opportunities to do so!

Muay Thai Kickboxing
Muay Thai Kickboxing is an excellent form of self-defense, and training Muay Thai Kickboxing is a great way to be fit, healthy, and develop skills that could, one day, save your life.
Students develop the techniques of Muay Thai Kickboxing as well as the skills of situational awareness that become a lifelong asset.
Muay Thai Kickboxing uses elbow & knee strikes! Classes begins with warm-up, then students will be shown a detailed technique, which will then be applied during pad work with a partner. Classes often finish with a short cardio or core exercise.
Gracie Self Defense class is primarily based on Gracie Jiu Jitsu self-defense techniques blended with aspects of Muay Thai and Jeet Kune Do with the goal of preparing you to effectively defend yourself in physical confrontation.
For all genders and ages, learn effective skills to protect yourself and those around you.
Participants will achieve an increased sense of self-confidence, learn effective self-defense techniques and experience confrontation in a safe environment.
Kung Fu San Soo
Kung-Fu-San-SooKung Fu San Soo is a pure self-defense art. Effective in a variety of situations, San Soo is quick and effective rather being used by beginners or life-long martial artists. San Soo employs a wide array of techniques which can be used to deter, subdue, or incapacitate an individual. Using strikes along with leverages and sweeps, San Soo can be adapted to suit the needs of all ages and body styles.
